The jobsite in Mentone, TX has an opening for a Field Safety Coordinator.
The purpose of the Field Safety Coordinator is the execution of OPD's safety program in field job sites.
The Field Safety Coordinator is integral in the construction project and is responsible for providing necessary training, safety equipment inspection and evaluation, development and coaching to advance the overall safety performance of the company.
What You Will Do In Your Role Summary of Duties: • Conduct walk-through inspections of field job sites to identify and eliminate hazardous conditions and unsafe acts performed by employees.
• Organizes and prepares the delivery of safety meetings and training.
• Ensure employees are following safe work procedures as specified in OPD's New Hire Orientation, tool-box meetings, and OSHA required training.
• Anticipate, identify and evaluates hazardous safety conditions and environmental risks.
• Make recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
• Responds to and conducts accident investigations and injury/accident case management.
• Apply the Company's Substance Abuse Testing policy to maintain compliance, including but not limited to drug screen collections and records management while adhering to HIPAA standards.
• Responsible for partnering with HR & site leaders on employee issues and/or concerns (e.
g.
, on-boarding questions, code of conduct, etc.
) • Responsible for conducting mandatory new hire safety orientation training as needed.
• Administer the safe permitting process (Lock Out Tag Out, etc.
).
Some physical demands of being a Field Safety Coordinator include: • Capable of working in outdoor weather and environmental conditions including extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, and high elevations.
• Lifting and carrying awkward objects up to 60 lbs.
• Standing for extended periods of time up to 11 hours per day.
Working through breaks as necessary.
• Moving the entire body.
Considerable use of arms, legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending on a regular basis.
• Use hands to handle, control, and feel objects and/or tools.

The Experience You Will Bring Requirements: Basic Qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 2 years' experience in a Safety position in the heavy construction industry.
• Computer knowledge - specifically the ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and proprietary databases.
• Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, and implement company and OSHA safety regulations and standards.
• OSHA 510 or OSHA 30 Hour Course.
• Ability to interpret evaluation results/feedback and adjust to improve performance.
• Must be able to read, write & communicate in English.
• Travel is a must with extended periods away from home in remote areas at times.
• Must be able to work shifts up to 12 hours per day and 7 days per week.
• Must be able to meet all physical demands of the job.
• Basic knowledge of atmospheric testing requirements and use of four gas monitors.
What Will Put You Ahead Preferred Qualifications: • 3+ years of working in a craft in field construction.
• Fluent in Spanish.
• CPR, First Aid and AED Certification.
• Competent person for excavations, trenching and soil mechanics.
• Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO).
• Experience using root cause analysis techniques such as; Fishbone, Taproot, 5 whys or other methods.
• Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Past Supervisory experience.
