Requisition: 23-168 *CITY OF ROSWELL * *Equal Opportunity Employer * *Water Billing * *Customer Service Clerk * *Date Open: *December 21, 2023 *SUMMARY: *Under close supervision, provides the public with information regarding utility billing procedures and performs cashiering duties and various clerical tasks.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: _ * Answers phones; assists customers with questions and inquiries; transfers call as needed.
* Reviews applications of new and existing water services for completeness and accuracy.
* Files daily paper work; updates existing files; updates current files and information as needed; completes trial balancing and auditing of daily cash deposits.
* Trains and assists other staff members in the completion of cashiering and customer service duties as needed.
* Supports the relationship between the City of Roswell and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
* Assist as needed in the daily billing process.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: *Education, Training, and Experience: * * High school diploma or GED equivalent AND two years increasingly responsible clerical or cashiering experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
*Knowledge Of: * * Principles and procedures of recordkeeping, reporting and retention.
* General accounting, auditing, and cash handling practices and procedures.
* Standard office procedures.
*Skill In: * * Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
* Effective verbal and written communication.
* Providing quality customer service.
Requisition: 23-168 * Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard equipment.
* Assessing, prioritizing and completing multiple tasks and demands simultaneously.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must possess and maintain a valid Class D driver’s license issued by the State of New Mexico.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a standard office environment.
*PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: * * Must be able to pass a rigid background investigation including work history, criminal records, driving records, and other records deemed necessary.
* Must pass a pre-employment drug screen administered by a City-designated facility.
CONDITIONS OF CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT: Incumbents and candidates must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record and insurability in accordance with the City’s insurance carrier.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $15.
