The Network Specialist Administrator works to improve productivity and operating goals of Nor Lea Hospital District by being primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of networks including hardware and software support, training, and special projects.
The Network Specialist manages and maintains storage solutions including configuring equipment to work effectively with applications per vendor requirements.
The Senior Network Administrator is also chiefly responsible for monitoring utilization levels and backup procedures, reporting to the Manager of Information Technology and working closely with the IT staff and relevant analysts to ensure high availability.
Utilizes technical knowledge, and exercises judgment in the completion of assigned tasks with regard to network management.
Roles & Responsibilities • Plans, designs, and maintains data networks and servers - Develops new procedures based on technical or emergent solutions - Manages complex environments with VMware virtualized servers and Nimble Storage Network - Maintains knowledge of maintaining, troubleshooting, and creating interfaces for any issues that arise and as applications are added to Nor Lea Hospital District environments - Creates design documents, RAID group assignments, LUN assignments, host configurations, and performs switch zoning and preemptive backup and downtime preparation procedures - Selects, implements, schedules, and supports backup systems - Supports and performs the installation, extension, and configuration of storage infrastructure—this will include managing switches, fiber, disks, shelves, enclosures, controllers, and data replication hardware • Quality Improvement-works with senior technical staff and management teams in building architecture for technical solutions on an as needed basis, participating in project teams - Provides recommendations for and leads project requiring complex technical decisions and provides input on delivery schedules - Works with Nor Lea Hospital District infrastructure management personnel to validate the soundness of technical plans—being evaluated on technical judgment and overall accuracy - Follows schedules provided by supervisors and managers - Utilizes extensive experience and knowledge to improve the existing processes and company operating procedures - Accomplishes tasks and projects in a professional manner within defined timelines - Develops capacity planning models to be used as input for strategic decision-making processes - Maintains policies and configurations around capacity management, performance management, and availability management - Analyzes storage consumption over time and I/O performance on application, host, LUN, volume, or group levels to provide accurate trend analysis • Maintains procedures for leadership and user requests - Supervises and assists incident response for storage hardware and network projects - Creates and implements storage system configuration design - Establishes procedures for and performs storage system maintenance, accepting input from management and customers in design - Administers access to systems and programs based on user role in alignment with project schedules • Monitors and Maintains Environment Security - Supervises and assists incident response for storage, hardware, and network projects - Conducts server and security audits - Performs network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specification information - Maintains client and server technologies, managing backup windows and recovery procedures for Nor-Lea Hospital District - Participates in creation and implementation of data replication and disaster recovery plans • Communication and Coordination - Clearly communicates regarding operational change and appropriate problem notification and escalation according to established procedures, huddles, meetings, and organizational functions.
- Conducts root cause analyses, along with recommendations and appropriate implementation of preventive measures - Provides issue resolution, making full use of internal and external resourcing up to and including vended resources - Provides technical support for users’ and administers’ day-to-day operation of networks and servers - Participates in operational on-call responses and is available for contact during specific hours of coverage; will also remain available as an integral member of Nor Lea Hospital District’s system support team during normal and crisis situations VALUES: i - Innovation "Forward thinking" "Exploring new possibilities" "Ambitious Goals" Looks out for new and innovative approaches that will improve efficiency.

Required Skills • Must be able to plan and implement software upgrades as necessary while maintaining security • Must be able to maintain a productive relationship with clinical stakeholders, department managers, and relevant leaders • Capable of working well under pressure with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously • Two (2) years’ experience supporting enterprise networks.
• One (1) year working with enterprise backup and recovery systems and experience with multipathing client software • Excellent written and oral communication skills; must be comfortable working with diverse user groups Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in related healthcare or information systems discipline is required, but a Master’s degree in a related field is strongly preferred.
Four (4) or more years of related experience in management or healthcare project management is preferred.
Working knowledge of local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), Internet, email systems, telecommunications and data communications, standard operating systems, software packages and software utilities preferred.
Senior Network Administrators must have a thorough knowledge of network design with a solid understanding of networking and client/server technologies.
Working knowledge of backup and recovery concepts and techniques is preferred for this position along with a familiarity with multi-platform environments.
Senior Network Administrators must also be comfortable working on core disaster recovery procedures as well as with the coordination of various backup windows across the enterprise.
