Salado Isolation Mining Contractors (SIMCO) LLC is currently inviting applicants for a career opportunity within the Safeguards and Security (S&S) Department as a Security Specialist in Carlsbad, NM, to actively contribute to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP), the nation's exclusive repository for Transuranic (TRU) nuclear waste disposal.
The ideal candidate will be assigned to different S&S sub-topical areas as applicable.
These areas include Program Management and Support, Physical Security, Information Security, Personnel Security, Foreign Visits and Assignments, and Nuclear Material Control and Accountability.
The applicant will be assigned to support program leads in one or more of the areas listed above.
The ideal candidate will have a Security or Military background with an emphasis on administrative functions.
The candidate may be tasked to lead the implementation of Department of Energy Orders added to the SIMCO contract as assigned by S&S Management.
The Security Specialist may be required to act as a key member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO), the role requires on-call availability.
Participation in the Security Department Corrective Action Program is also expected.
This position reports directly to the Security Manager or Deputy Security Manager.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned by S&S Management.
Exempt Salary Grade (29-32)

Bachelor’s degree, or
Associate’s degree with four (4) years of relevant experience, or
High School Diploma or Equivalency with eight (8) years of relevant experience is required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a "Q" Clearance.

Starting salary $73,255 per year *
